Myocardial Infarction
Includes
Cardiomyopathy.
Description
An infarction is characterized by the sudden, massive death of cells (irreversible necrosis of part of an organ) due to a lack of oxygen. The most common type of infarction is myocardial infarction (IM), i.e. an infarction of the heart muscle.
We cannot help heart muscle cells regenerate. Therefore, a naturopathic approach aims to strengthen the muscle in order to reduce the risk of a recurrence and to help the body function as well as possible to compensate for the necrosis.
Dietary Considerations
Watch your consumption of simple sugars. Keep your sodium (salt) intake to a minimum. Avoid most fats, with the exception of a small amount of "good fats," which are a source of Omega-3, -6 and -9.
Be sure to eat protein at every meal. Avoid soft drinks and do not drink more than 200 ml of coffee per day.
